Preparing For Professional Carpet Cleaning

  • Parking — We use a van-based HydraMaster cleaning system that connects to our cleaning equipment in your home with a set of hoses. We will need to park our mobile cleaning unit as close to the door as possible. Please move any vehicle that you expect to need during our service call and leave us enough room to park our van. Once we start cleaning, it is difficult to move our van.
  • Pets — The hoses connecting our equipment to our van mean that we’ll have to have at least one door ajar during your service call. If you are concerned that your pets may get out, you may want to confine them in a room and let us know if you want us to let them out before we leave.

Pre-Cleaning Checklist

To help us clean your carpets efficiently and effectively, please follow the tips below.

  • If we will need to move your furniture, please advise your cleaning technician about any special furniture considerations — weak legs, loose tops, etc.
  • Vacuum the traffic areas before we arrive.
  • Pin up full-length draperies so that they will be at least six inches from the carpet.
  • Pin up skirts on upholstered furniture that may touch the carpet.
  • Remove all breakable items from furniture that will have to be moved during the carpet cleaning process.
  • Removing small pieces of furniture such as dining room chairs, magazine racks, etc., will shorten the process and return your carpet to normal use sooner.
  • China cabinets cannot be moved unless completely emptied of all breakables. However, the carpet underneath such cabinets can be hand cleaned where sufficient room is available, or we can edge around the base.
  • If any spots or stains may require special attention, please mark them with notes or point them out to your cleaning technician. If you know what caused the stain, please let us know. Our technicians have specialized training in handling these concerns.

If you need to reschedule your cleaning appointment, please try to give us as much notice as possible to allow us to schedule another job in that time slot. We appreciate your understanding.

Aftercare Information

  • In order to facilitate drying, we’ll place plastic tabs or Styrofoam blocks under your furniture. Please leave them in place for 24 hours after cleaning.
  • For your children’s and pets’ safety, please do not let them crawl or lay on the carpets until they are completely dry.
  • Our cleaning process removes most deep-set oiling and protein stains, but over a period of time, it’s possible for some of them to “resurface” out of the backing or the pad. If this happens, please give us a call. We have a special reduced spotting rate for recurring stains.
  • For several days after the cleaning, you may notice an elevated odor due to higher humidity levels.
  • We do everything possible to reduce or eliminate pet odors. However, if there is a great deal of contamination, 100% success may not be attainable. Please ask your cleaning technician about our advanced levels of odor removal.
